Homeland Security Secretary Secretary Kristi Noem has now reportedly voiced her support for a Justice Department investigation into Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez’s “Know Your Rights” webinar, which aimed to educate immigrants on dealing with ICE encounters.

This follows comments from Tom Homan, the border czar under President Trump, who suggested that Ocasio-Cortez might have crossed legal lines by allegedly teaching immigrants how to evade law enforcement.

During an interview on Fox News with Sean Hannity, Noem was asked whether the webinar constituted aiding and abetting. She responded affirmatively, claiming that Democrats are “standing alongside known terrorists” by providing assistance to immigrants facing deportation.

Noem stated, “The Department of Justice absolutely should look into this situation,” criticizing public officials for allegedly breaking laws to facilitate what she termed an “invasion” and allowing criminals to remain in the U.S.

She further asserted that American citizens are tired of the system being abused to promote a political agenda, accusing Democrats of using fear to manipulate public sentiment.

Noem’s remarks align with a broader narrative among some Republican leaders who contend that progressive policies endanger national security.

Ocasio-Cortez has defended her actions, emphasizing her right to free speech and insisting that she was informing individuals of their constitutional protections.

She challenged Homan’s remarks, stating, “Come for me, do I look like I care?”

The controversy reflects the ongoing tensions between progressive and conservative viewpoints on immigration policy and the role of elected officials in guiding constituents on their rights.

As calls for investigation continue, the political landscape surrounding immigration remains highly polarized.
