An Iranian embassy circulated an AI-generated video this week depicting Jesus Christ confronting and physically overpowering President Donald Trump, casting him into a fiery pit, in the latest escalation of an online dispute involving religious imagery and political messaging.
The video appeared shortly after Trump posted—and later deleted—an AI-generated image on Truth Social portraying himself in a Christ-like role healing a sick person. The embassy’s clip begins with that same image, showing Trump bathed in divine light, before a depiction of Jesus descends alongside bald eagles.
“Your reckoning has come,” the figure declares.
“What is this? No!” the AI-generated Trump responds, before Jesus strikes him, sending him into flames below.

Trump addressed the original post in remarks to reporters, rejecting the suggestion that he had portrayed himself as a religious figure.
Trump addresses that picture.
Journalist: “Did you post that picture of yourself depicted as Jesus Christ?”
President Trump: “I did post it and I thought it was me as a doctor.
And had to do with the Red Cross, as a red cross worker, (which we support ) and only the fake news… pic.twitter.com/tjipLtKzBb

“It wasn’t a depiction. It was me. I did post it, and I thought it was me as a doctor,” he said. “And had to do with the Red Cross as a Red Cross worker, which we support, and only the fake news could come up with that one.”
He added: “It was supposed to be me as a doctor making people better, and I do make people better. I make people a lot better.”
The image drew backlash from some of Trump’s Christian supporters on Truth Social, with several accusing him of blasphemy and invoking biblical warnings about false messiahs.
“The book of Revelations speaks of this, are you literally depicting yourself as a saviour or messiah? Just asking, as the Book of Revelations tells us the Antichrist will claim he is,” one commenter wrote.
The episode unfolded amid a broader public dispute between Trump and Pope Leo XIV. Trump had criticized the pontiff on Truth Social, accusing him of “catering to the Radical Left” and claiming he “wasn’t doing a good job.”
Asked about the criticism, the pope declined to escalate the exchange.
“I don’t want to get into a debate with him,” Pope Leo said. “I don’t think that the message of the Gospel is meant to be abused in the way that some people are doing. I will continue to speak out loudly against war, looking to promote peace, promote dialogue and multilateral relationships among the states to look for just solutions to problems.”
🇻🇦🇺🇸 Pope Leo:
I do not look at my role as being political — politician. I don't want to get into a debate with him (Trump).I don't think that the message of the Gospel is meant to be abused in the way that some people are doing.
