Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich reportedly offered an optimistic economic forecast on Monday, predicting that Americans will soon experience a “Trump boom” fueled by pro-growth reforms — a stark contrast, he argues, to the stagnation overseen by Democrats.
Speaking on Fox Business’s Kudlow, Gingrich laid out a confident case for a resurgent economy under President Donald Trump’s policy agenda.
He pointed to key measures — including full expensing for business investments, sweeping deregulation, and tariffs to protect American industry — as central to what he believes will be a robust economic turnaround by next summer.
“I think by next summer, we’re going to be in the Trump boom. It’s going to be very real, and it’s going to create a choice for the voters next year between a Trump boom on the one hand and the Democrats’ gloom on the other hand,” Gingrich said.
At the heart of this economic revival is the newly signed “Big Beautiful Bill,” which enshrines several of Trump’s long-standing economic goals.
Passed narrowly by the House on a 218–214 vote and signed by Trump on July 4, the bill locks in the 2017 tax cuts, permanently eliminates taxes on tips and overtime, raises the child tax credit to $2,200, and funnels hundreds of billions into border security and national defense.
Gingrich praised the bill as a foundational achievement, calling it the cornerstone of Trump’s new economic era. “If you take the combination of the One Big Beautiful Bill with enormous breakthroughs in both taxes and regulations, you combine that with the relative effect for manufacturing of the tariffs, and you combine that with Trump’s going around the planet picking up sales for American goods and picking up investments for America,” he said, “you get a very powerful economic surge.”
But beyond economics, Gingrich warned that Democrats are doubling down on obstruction and political maneuvering to maintain control, even in the face of clear electoral mandates.
Referring to Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer, Gingrich said, “These guys are proud of having stopped the American people from having the folks they want run the federal government.”
He accused Democrats of ignoring voter intent and using procedural tactics to block Republican leadership. “As the country understands what a deliberate strategy this is, they’re going to be very unhappy that the Democrats are deliberately trying to keep the Biden people in charge, despite the election,” he added.
Gingrich’s remarks come as Republicans look ahead to the 2026 midterm elections with growing confidence.
With a strong legislative win in hand, rising manufacturing numbers, and a White House laser-focused on growth, conservatives are betting that voters will reject the “gloom” of Democratic governance in favor of a renewed era of American prosperity.
In Gingrich’s view, that choice will be crystal clear: “A Trump boom — or more Democratic decline.”
