On Saturday, President Joe Biden presented a flurry of prizes to winners from various fields, including actors Denzel Washington and Michael J. Fox, NBA great Earvin “Magic” Johnson, scientist Jane Goodall, and 14 other well-known figures.
However, it was two of the others who reportedly sparked uproar over the weekend at the Fox News studios.
The Presidential Medal of Freedom is the highest formal civilian distinction bestowed by the United States, and the presentation of those medals on Saturday marked Biden’s penultimate ceremony as President before Donald Trump takes office this month.
Among those honored at the auspicious occasion were former Secretary of State and former First Lady Hillary Clinton, as well as billionaire Democratic donor and progressive activist George Soros, whom many in the media chose to describe as a “philanthropist” throughout the weekend, which many on the right strongly opposed.
Former Governor and Ambassador Nikki Haley, who campaigned against Trump in the Republican primary last year, said Soros is one of the reasons she can’t wait for Trump to take office.
On Fox & Friends Sunday, anchors Guy Benson, Rachel Campos-Duffy, and Charlie Hurt had similarly harsh remarks about Soros, not to mention Biden bestowing honors to Clinton and Robert F. Kennedy Sr.
“George Soros is a villain. Let’s be very clear. Another bad person who got it? You know, Hillary Clinton.” Host Rachel Campos Duffy remarked.
“I would say destroying freedom gets you the Freedom Award, I guess,” she continued.
“The idea that you would give the award to those people, such deserving people, and then you would immediately cheapen the value of the award by giving it to these people who don’t deserve it,” Hurt replied.
“And then, oh, and then sell one for a couple hundred million dollars to George Soros,” he concluded.
