The diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) rules that were adopted by the Biden administration have reportedly now been scrapped, according to an announcement made by the Department of Defense (DoD) on Wednesday.
The reason for this decision is that the policies are “incompatible” with the objective of the United States military.
Pete Hegseth, the Secretary of Defense, stated that President Donald Trump’s objective is to get the organization back to a state in which its exclusive focus is on winning battles.
According to Hegseth, the following modifications are going to be implemented:
When evaluating candidates for promotion, command, or special duty, the Department of Defense will not take into account factors such as gender, race, or ethnicity.
In the event that there is a demonstrated operational requirement, the Department of Defense Components and the Secretaries of Military Departments have the ability to identify categories of assignments that require exceptions to this directive.
With regard to organizational makeup, academic admittance, or professional areas, no Department of Defense component will develop goals that are based on racial or ethnic background, gender, or ethnicity.
There is not a single department within the Department of Defense that will include education on Critical Race Theory (CRT), Decolonization, or gender ideology as part of a curriculum or for employability training purposes.
According to the United States Service Academies and other academic institutions in the military sector, the United States of America and its foundational documents continue to be the most influential force for good in the annals of human history.
The operations of any and all advisory boards, councils, and working groups that are associated with gender ideology, diversity, equity, and diversity.
According to the secretary, the strength of the United States military is derived from its cohesiveness and the common goal that it pursues.
“We will focus on lethality, meritocracy, accountability, standards, and readiness. Providing Service members an equal opportunity to excel will help us remain the strongest and most lethal fighting force the world has ever known.” Hegseth concluded.
