Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, has now officially stated that he intends to resign after his party selects a new leader. The news comes in the wake of an unprecedented collapse of his liberal government over the past several weeks.
Trudeau has been continually in power for almost 10 years and became notorious in many quarters for his brutal and heavy handed pandemic policies as well as his ultra-liberal views on many issues.

Trudeau, who rose to power in 2015 on a tide of youthful charisma and lofty promises, leveraged his family name and progressive rhetoric to project an image of economic prosperity, transparency, and inclusivity.
Nevertheless, his government’s collapse and his subsequent forced resignation were the result of a series of contradictions and controversies that plagued his tenure.
Trudeau’s government left Canada with record levels of debt and deficits, which were further exacerbated by runaway spending programs that many conservatives regarded as unsustainable and fiscally irresponsible.
Key industries, notably in Western Canada, were alienated by his signature policies, including the carbon tax and environmental regulations, which left energy producers feeling abandoned and demonized.
His failure to strike a balance between environmental objectives and economic development resulted in a federation that was deeply divided.
Critics also criticized Trudeau’s leadership style for its performative nature. He frequently favored symbolism over substance, as evidenced by his repeated use of virtue signaling in response to social issues and his infamous costumes during a state visit to India.
Although his progressive agenda resonated with a portion of far-left Canadians, others perceived it as superficial and divisive, as it failed to address the genuine concerns of middle-class families who were grappling with stagnant wages and rapidly increasing costs.
His reputation was further tarnished by ethics controversies which undermined his assertion of transparency. His integrity was called into question by these incidents, which, in conjunction with allegations of political interference, exacerbated public disillusionment with his government.
