Freshman New Mexico state representative John Block is now reportedly taking the fight to liberal Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham in the wake of her new attempt to implement a blatantly unconstitutional ban on concealed carry in Albuquerque.
Grisham attempted to justify the move by claiming that declaring an emergency allows her to suspend the constitutional rights of citizens for a temporary period of time, a notion that has no legal precedent and has been widely derided by observers across the political spectrum.
Block, a Christian, American First conservative currently serving in the New Mexico House recently appeared on Newsmax to announce that he intends to join other conservatives in opening an official impeachment inquiry into Grisham’s actions.
Here's today's @Newsmax interview with @CarlHigbie talking about MLG's impending impeachment. #ImpeachMLG

America’s News Desk reached out to Block for comment on the matter, and he promptly supplied us with the following statement:
“She claimed no right is ‘absolute’ and then signed her order to restrict New Mexicans — who already are dealing with the deadliest crime wave in decades — from their constitutional rights to keep and bear arms. If we didn’t impeach Gov. Lujan Grisham and uphold our own oaths to the Constitution, we would be as complicit as her.” he continued.
When asked how New Mexicans should react to the Governor’s far-left power grab, Block said the following: “New Mexicans should do what the Bernalillo County sheriff and the Albuquerque Police Department are doing and flatly ignore the decree because it’s painfully unconstitutional.” he stated.
“Other than the impending impeachment, I am calling for a special session to finally fix gaping holes in our state statutes that let murderers and criminals of all natures terrorize our state’s streets. We need harsher penalties on law-breakers, and we must keep these violent hooligans behind bars pending trial. Other solutions will be brought forward, but a focus must be on making New Mexico such a hostile place to criminals that they flee the state or reform their behavior.” he added.
“Unlike the governor’s despotic edict, our calls for impeachment are not a publicity stunt. We are dead serious about holding Gov. Lujan Grisham accountable for throwing the Constitution in the fire and laughing as she watches it burn. The governor must resign in disgrace or be impeached. The choice is entirely hers.” Block concluded.
