President Trump is serious about rebranding artificial intelligence — and he isn’t letting it slide, even during a friendly interview.

During a Monday sit-down on the New York Post’s “Pod Force One” podcast, host Miranda Devine began a question about artificial intelligence when the president cut in to correct her terminology.

“AI, I think they’re concerned about—” Devine began.

“SI,” Trump interjected with a smirk.

Devine immediately apologized.

The president then shrugged off any concerns about the technology and boasted about America’s position in the global race.

“So we’re leading in super intelligence, we’re leading in SI, and we’re leading by a lot,” Trump said. “No, it’s going to be great.”

The exchange came roughly a month after Trump announced he was swapping out “artificial intelligence” for “super intelligence,” saying he wasn’t a fan of the original name and calling it “very ineloquent.”

The president has since doubled down. Last week, Trump took aim at The Wall Street Journal on Truth Social for continuing to use the term “AI.” He called it a “very bad and inaccurate name” and said the administration would soon be officially banning the term “AI/Artificial Intelligence” in all relevant documents due to its inaccuracy.

The White House has already updated its references to the technology, swapping AI for SI across its materials, though the government’s website domain remains ai.gov.

Some major tech players have embraced the change. Tesla and SpaceX CEO Elon Musk, whose relationship with the president has seen its share of ups and downs, voiced support for the switch and announced that his company SpaceXAI would be renamed SpaceXSI.

Critics have mocked the effort, arguing the president is trying to rehabilitate the technology’s public image amid growing backlash over data centers and the rapid pace of AI development.

The renaming push comes as artificial intelligence has become a major economic and political issue, with the administration touting American dominance over global competitors, particularly China, in the race to develop the most advanced systems.

The podcast interview also touched on the president’s political future. Trump told Devine he would “love” to run for a third term in 2028, but acknowledged that the Constitution’s “exacting” language prevents him from doing so.

The 22nd Amendment limits presidents to two elected terms in office.

Devine, a longtime New York Post columnist, has hosted the president on “Pod Force One” previously, and the show has become a regular platform for Trump to speak directly to supporters.

The interview landed just one day before Tuesday’s midterm elections, as the president wraps up an aggressive final campaign push and prepares to deliver a closing message from the Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool on Monday.

Whether the “SI” label catches on more broadly remains to be seen. For now, at least one prominent journalist has learned the new rule the hard way.
