President Donald Trump is furious with the U.S. Supreme Court after it struck down his administration’s push to restrict mail-in voting ahead of the midterms — and he’s not holding back.
In a lengthy, fiery Truth Social post, Trump blasted the ruling as a disaster for the country, claiming it hands the “Radical Left” an open door to cheat in November’s elections.
“Republicans just got another bad decision from the United States Supreme Court,” Trump wrote, blasting the timing of the decision and arguing the Court left no time to implement a fix for what he called a “totally CORRUPT and out of control” mail-in voting system. He singled out Justices Samuel Alito and Clarence Thomas for praise, noting they dissented from the ruling.
Trump didn’t stop at mail-in voting. He tore into the Court’s recent rulings on tariffs, arguing the decision would cost America “Trillions and Trillions of Dollars” for years to come, and slammed the Court’s handling of birthright citizenship as a “complete and total disaster” that has fueled citizenship-related corruption.
“The Supreme Court has really let our Country down!” Trump wrote. “Certain Justices are petrified of these crazed and depraved Democrats, and are totally unable to show the courage necessary to save our America.”
The president went further, suggesting the justices he once championed have become unrecognizable. “These are not the people I interviewed to serve on the United States Supreme Court,” he wrote, calling the current bench “merely a shell of their original selves.”
He closed the post with a rare moment of reflection, admitting the criticism might cost him politically. “It is not easy for me to write this criticism of the United States Supreme Court — it will likely cost me dearly for years to come — but I feel it my obligation and duty, as President, to do so for the America we love!”
The ruling, handed down Monday, keeps the U.S. Postal Service’s newly proposed mail-in ballot requirements on hold heading into the midterms, which are now just 49 days away. The broader legal fight over whether the agency can ultimately enforce those rules remains unresolved.
The decision is the latest flashpoint in the ongoing battle over election integrity and mail-in voting procedures as both parties brace for a hard-fought midterm cycle.
