Stephen A. Smith reportedly unloaded on MAGA influencer Laura Loomer Wednesday night after she used a racial and vulgar description while attacking Florida Democratic U.S. Senate candidate Angie Nixon.
Smith responded on social media after Loomer referred to “Black b*tches like Angie Nixon,” declaring that her language crossed a line.
“Laura Loomer’s comments about Black women in politics were highly offensive. Period,” Smith wrote. “I’m calling it out!”
In an accompanying video, Smith challenged Loomer to consider how she would react if someone directed the same insult at her. He stressed that he would never describe Loomer — or any other woman — in those terms.
“I would never speak about you that way. I would never speak about any woman that way,” Smith said. “I’m certainly not going to speak about my Black sisters that way.”
Smith noted that his anger did not mean he always agreed with Democratic politicians. He said he regularly disagrees with Democrats, their statements and their policies but argued that political differences do not justify Loomer’s language.
“But how dare you speak about them that way,” Smith said before asking whether Loomer would make the same comments directly to Nixon’s face.
Smith also challenged Loomer’s references to “ghetto behavior,” questioning why such inflammatory language was necessary. His criticism grew more forceful as he called for greater decency in political debate.
“Can we get to a point where we can get some class?” Smith asked.
He said he was not demanding that people follow former first lady Michelle Obama’s phrase, “When they go low, we go high,” but urged them to focus on issues instead of personal insults.
Smith then pointed to Nixon’s political priorities, asking whether Loomer’s actual objections concerned Nixon’s support for Medicaid for all, working families, wages or lowering grocery prices.
“Everybody might not be able to afford what you might be able to afford, Laura Loomer!” Smith said.
Loomer soon fired back, defending her description of Nixon and asking Smith to “translate” remarks she attributed to the Democratic candidate.
“You say I’m wrong for calling @AngieNixon what she is: a ghetto, black, communist btch,” Loomer wrote before quoting a statement that included references to “apes” and “dirty btches.”
Loomer said the quoted language demonstrated why she voted against what she characterized as a divisive bill.
She also insisted she would repeat her remarks directly to Nixon and followed with a mocking response containing racial stereotypes and additional vulgar language.
“And yes. I would say it to her face,” Loomer wrote before sarcastically asking what Nixon would do in response and concluding, “Or is that too ghetto? You feelz me?”
The clash with Smith was only one of several social media fights Loomer pursued Wednesday night. She also targeted Piers Morgan, recently deported Milo Yiannopoulos and Democratic New Jersey Rep. LaMonica McIver.
