Fox News is reportedly making a major change to the lineup of cable news’ highest-rated program, officially naming Emily Compagno as a permanent co-host of “The Five.”
The network announced Monday afternoon that Compagno will take over the seat that has technically remained vacant since Jeanine Pirro left the popular program in May 2025.
For the past 15 months, Fox News has relied on a rotating group of contributors to fill the open spot, with Compagno among the personalities regularly appearing in the chair. Now, the network is making her role permanent.
Fox News CEO Suzanne Scott praised Compagno in a press release announcing the move, pointing to her work across the network.
“Emily is a highly accomplished host whose energy and talent have made her a standout across Fox News Media, and we are thrilled to officially welcome her to the show,” Scott said.
The promotion means Compagno will leave her current position on “Outnumbered” as she moves full-time to “The Five.”
Fox News said Compagno’s seat on “Outnumbered” will be filled by a rotating personality for the time being. The network did not announce a permanent replacement.
Compagno celebrated her new assignment and said she was honored to officially become part of a program she has admired and worked alongside for years.
“I couldn’t be more honored to join The Five, a team I have long admired and have been fortunate to work alongside over the years,” Compagno said in the press release.
“Having an official seat at the table on what I truly believe is the most fun show on television is an incredible privilege,” she continued. “I am grateful for the opportunity and can’t wait to get started.”
Compagno will join a lineup featuring Greg Gutfeld, Dana Perino and Jesse Watters on a daily basis.

Harold Ford Jr. and Jessica Tarlov will continue rotating as the program’s fifth co-host.
The move comes as “The Five” continues its lengthy run at the top of the cable news ratings.
The program has ranked as the highest-rated show in cable news for 19 consecutive quarters, according to the article.
During the second quarter of 2026, “The Five” averaged 3.6 million viewers, maintaining its position as a dominant force in the cable news landscape.
The show also averaged 322,000 viewers among adults ages 25-54, the demographic particularly coveted by advertisers.
Compagno’s permanent addition ends more than a year of rotating personalities occupying the chair left open following Pirro’s departure.
After spending that period as one of the contributors regularly filling in on the program, Compagno will now officially have a seat at the table alongside the rest of “The Five” crew.
