Conservative podcaster Ben Shapiro escalated his bitter feud with Tucker Carlson this week, unloading on the former Fox News host over his recent interview with Hunter Biden as the two commentators traded increasingly personal attacks.
Shapiro devoted a lengthy segment to Carlson’s sit-down with Biden, arguing the two men represent “the elite of the elite” while ridiculing the idea that Carlson speaks for everyday Americans.
The clash comes as Carlson has turned against President Donald Trump over the Iran war and support for Israel, putting him at odds with traditional conservatives such as Shapiro who favor military intervention and a more conventional Republican approach to foreign policy.
Carlson fired his own salvo at Shapiro, dedicating a segment to the Daily Wire co-founder and calling him an “employee” for larger interests. Carlson also argued that the forces behind Shapiro believe the United States was created to serve Israel.
Shapiro, meanwhile, targeted Carlson for praising Candace Owens during his interview with Biden.
Carlson had discussed texting both Erika Kirk, the widow of Charlie Kirk, and Owens within an hour of each other. Shapiro mocked Carlson over the revelation, noting that Owens has promoted theories surrounding Kirk’s death.
“What a hero he is,” Shapiro sarcastically said.
Shapiro then ripped into Carlson’s image as a champion of ordinary Americans, pointing to his wealthy upbringing and mocking his Maine cabin before blasting his conversation with Biden.
“I can’t get over the absolute utter imbecility of this,” Shapiro said, later calling Carlson a “douchebag” and mocking his distinctive laugh.
Shapiro played clips showing Carlson and Biden finding common ground on Owens and other issues, including criticism of Trump for increasing the national debt.
The conservative host then took a personal shot at Biden, referencing his past drug addiction and artwork before dismissing a portion of their conversation involving their favorite Bible verses.
Shapiro argued that Carlson and Biden were presenting themselves as outsiders capable of fixing a system that had betrayed Americans despite what he described as their elite status.
“I can’t think of a worse leadership class than Hunter Biden and Tucker Carlson together in a room,” Shapiro said.
He accused the pair of lacking honesty and principle and suggested their political outlook amounted to some form of “horseshoe revolution.”
Daily Wire co-founder Jeremy Boreing jumped into the fight Wednesday, defending Shapiro after Carlson’s latest attack.
Boreing shared a clip of Carlson criticizing Shapiro and accused him of repeatedly suggesting that Shapiro only got into college because of a “grand global conspiracy.”
“You have jumped the last shark,” Boreing wrote.
Boreing then offered two possibilities for Carlson’s rhetoric, saying either Carlson could no longer hear what he was saying or knew exactly what he was doing.
“He either can’t hear himself, in which case he’s a lunatic, or he can hear himself, in which case he’s a deceiver on the level of Iago or Grima Wormtongue,” Boreing wrote.
“Either way, if you’re listening to this guy, you’re a mark. Obviously.”
