President Donald Trump publicly rebuked U.S. Attorney Jeannine Pirro on Monday over her decision to drop charges tied to the controversy surrounding damage at the Trump reflecting pool, fueling questions about her future in the role.
According to CNN, Pirro’s position as U.S. attorney could now be in jeopardy following her handling of the high-profile case.
Speaking during an Oval Office press conference, Trump sharply criticized Pirro’s decision, arguing she mishandled the matter and should not have dismissed the case.
The president said Pirro “made a mistake” and “choked” when she chose to drop charges against a former Olympian who had been accused by the administration of vandalizing the reflecting pool.
