President Donald Trump spent Super Bowl Sunday hosting a watch party at his Mar-a-Lago resort in Florida, where a small group of Republican lawmakers gathered to follow the championship matchup between the New England Patriots and the Seattle Seahawks.
Among those in attendance were Sen. Lindsey Graham of South Carolina and Sen. Eric Schmitt of Missouri. Graham posted a photo of himself with the president on Twitter, writing, “Enjoying Super Bowl LX with President Trump and team. @POTUS is Reagan Plus — A man of his word.” Schmitt also shared an image from the evening, showing him laughing at Trump’s table as the game unfolded.

The gathering coincided with the Super Bowl taking place thousands of miles away at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, California. Trump chose not to attend the game in person this year, citing the distance to the West Coast venue. He traveled to New Orleans for last year’s Super Bowl, becoming the first sitting president to attend the event.
Before kickoff, Trump and first lady Melania Trump released a formal statement congratulating both teams. “Melania and I congratulate both teams on earning their place in Super Bowl LX, and we wish them luck as they compete for the National Football League’s iconic Vince Lombardi Trophy. May tonight’s game reflect the best of football and the enduring triumph of the American spirit—and may the best team win!” the statement said.
Trump had earlier offered praise for New England ahead of the game, calling the Patriots “amazing” in pregame remarks.
As the night progressed, Trump weighed in on the halftime show via Truth Social, criticizing the performance by Puerto Rican artist Bad Bunny, whose set featured lyrics entirely in Spanish. Trump described it as “one of the worst.”
On the field, Seattle’s defense proved decisive. The Seahawks contained the Patriots’ offense and secured a 29–13 victory, earning the franchise’s second Super Bowl title. The win also served as redemption for Seattle, avenging a loss to New England in a championship game more than a decade earlier.
Celebrations broke out across Seattle following the final whistle, while fans in New England were left to absorb a disappointing end to the season.
