Megyn Kelly delivered a blistering rebuke of former Fox News colleague Mark Levin on Tuesday, accusing him of trying to get her “canceled” and branding him an “old, irrelevant, bitter, angry man” after Levin launched a fresh personal attack and labeled her a “bigot.”
The public feud erupted during an online exchange after Levin, a Fox News host, took aim at Kelly over comments she made in 2018 regarding Halloween costumes and blackface. Levin, who has recently referred to Kelly as a “Woke Reich psycho,” escalated the dispute by reviving the controversy and attacking her professional record.
“Meg Kelly, whose ratings were so bad on NBC she became a laughingstock, was canned for promoting blackface on Halloween,” Levin wrote. He went on to accuse her of being a “degenerate bigot” and tied her to figures he frequently criticizes, including Candace Owens and Jack Posobiec. Levin also lobbed insults at her associations and declared that she was part of what he called the “Woke Reich,” even referring to her as the “queen of the modern Klan.”
Kelly fired back forcefully. Her response quickly outperformed Levin’s post in online engagement, drawing more than five times the number of likes. She dismissed Levin’s accusations as baseless and said she was not intimidated by his attacks.
“You’re just upset bc I’m not afraid of you or your baseless slurs,” Kelly wrote. “You’re an old, irrelevant, bitter, angry man who could never make it in the Fox News primetime.” She added that during their time at Fox, staffers used to laugh at Levin’s “red-faced tantrums” over nearly everything.
Levin responded by insisting that he never sought a weekday primetime slot on Fox News. He said he is doing exactly what he wants, hosting primetime shows on weekends, and claimed he was recruited for those roles rather than campaigning for them.
Levin then pivoted back to attacking Kelly’s career, pointing to the short-lived nature of her Sunday show on NBC and saying her subsequent attempt at weekday programming also failed. He accused her of humiliating herself, dropping profanity in an effort to appear edgy, and said her trajectory showed a “slow but steady burn” that others see even if she does not.
The exchange marked a dramatic reversal from just two years ago, when the two conservative media figures spoke glowingly of one another. In 2023, Levin told Kelly he had admired her “for a very, very long time.” Kelly returned the praise, saying she always stopped to watch Levin’s clips and read his books, describing him as one of the few people she considered truly brilliant and honest.
The breakdown in their relationship mirrors Levin’s broader pattern of recent clashes within conservative media. Over the past few months, he has lashed out at several influential figures on the right, including Tucker Carlson, Jack Posobiec, Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, and former Trump adviser Steve Bannon.
Levin also drew criticism from fellow conservatives last week after attacking Posobiec for holding up a Catholic rosary during a speech at Turning Point USA’s AmericaFest, a move many viewed as unnecessarily divisive.
The Kelly-Levin spat underscores growing fractures within conservative media, where personal grudges and ideological disputes are increasingly playing out in public. What was once a relationship defined by mutual respect has devolved into a bitter and personal war of words, offering a vivid example of how quickly alliances can collapse in today’s media-driven political landscape.
