Deputy FBI Director Dan Bongino is reportedly considering resignation amid rising tensions with Attorney General Pam Bondi over the Department of Justice’s handling of the Jeffrey Epstein case files. The internal dispute, which has remained largely behind closed doors, erupted into public view after right-wing commentator Laura Loomer broadcast the rift across social media—claims that were soon echoed by legacy media outlets, according to Mediate.

Bondi, who earlier this year vowed to “get to the bottom” of the Epstein saga, now finds herself in the crosshairs. Loomer, escalating her rhetoric, declared, “A lot of people who work for President Trump are pissed with Blondi. They know she Fkd up. Now it’s a matter of what happens next. She is an embarrassment to Donald Trump and his administration and we need to protect Trump from people who want to DRAG HIM DOWN. Blondi needs to be fired.”

Loomer’s influence in Trump’s political orbit has grown in recent months. She reportedly helped push for the ouster of former National Security Advisor Mike Waltz in April and joined Trump at the 9/11 memorial services last year, sparking widespread criticism. Despite her history of incendiary remarks, she has carved out a powerful niche within the GOP’s populist wing.

Speculation over Bondi’s replacement is already underway. Loomer suggested Florida Governor Ron DeSantis has been “considered/floated for the role of Attorney General by some over the last few months.” Others, she noted, are lobbying for Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton, though she added he “reportedly has U.S. Senate ambitions.”

The White House and the Department of Justice have not commented on Bongino’s status. But Donald Trump has come out in support of Attorney General Bondi, wrote CNN.

“President Donald Trump offered a full-throated defense of Attorney General Pam Bondi on Saturday amid criticism from some in his base over the release of a memo about accused sex trafficker Jeffrey Epstein, writing on Truth Social that Bondi is doing ‘a FANTASTIC JOB’ in her role.

‘What’s going on with my ‘boys’ and, in some cases, ‘gals?’ They’re all going after Attorney General Pam Bondi, who is doing a FANTASTIC JOB!’ Trump wrote. ‘We’re on one Team, MAGA, and I don’t like what’s happening. We have a PERFECT Administration, THE TALK OF THE WORLD, and ‘selfish people’ are trying to hurt it, all over a guy who never dies, Jeffrey Epstein.’

Privately, Trump has also doubled down on his support for Bondi. Members of the president’s inner circle have reached out to some of Bondi’s most vocal critics to essentially ask them to ramp it down, noting that Trump, at this moment, was not getting rid of his attorney general. Sources cautioned that while Trump was currently still supporting Bondi, things could always change.”
