President Donald Trump reportedly criticized the legacy media for prioritizing coverage of Kilmar Abrego Garcia, a deported Salvadoran man, while neglecting the story of Patty Morin, an “Angel Mom” whose daughter was murdered by an illegal immigrant in 2023.

During a media appearance following the swearing-in of Dr. Mehmet Oz as the new administrator of the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, Trump expressed frustration over the media’s focus.

Trump described Abrego Garcia as a “very violent person,” asserting that the media portrayed him as a victim deserving of return to the U.S.

He contrasted this with Morin’s heartbreaking story, highlighting her emotional testimony about the loss of her daughter.

Morin had been invited to the White House and urged reporters to tell the truth about violent criminals allowed into the U.S. under current immigration policies, emphasizing the need for national security and the protection of American families.

The Trump administration has long maintained that Abrego Garcia has ties to the notorious MS-13 gang and poses a danger to public safety.

Although an immigration judge ordered his deportation in 2019, some confusion surrounds the legal protections granted to him, which have allowed him to remain in the U.S. temporarily.

Trump pointed out that while Morin’s grief was largely overlooked, the media has extensively covered Abrego Garcia’s case, presenting it as a miscarriage of justice.

He remarked, “Isn’t it a shame?” referring to the media’s imbalance in reporting. Morin’s advocacy for victims of illegal immigration continues to resonate, as she calls for more accountability and awareness regarding the implications of current border policies.
