President Donald Trump has now directed Washington, D.C. Mayor Muriel Bowser to address the issue of homelessness in the city, specifically ordering her to “clean up all of the unsightly homeless encampments.”

In a new post on Truth Social, Trump emphasized the need for the city to become “CLEAN and SAFE,” highlighting areas such as those near the White House and the State Department that he believes require immediate attention.

“We have notified the Mayor of Washington, D.C., that she must clean up all of the unsightly homeless encampments in the City, specifically including the ones outside of the State Department, and near the White House. If she is not capable of doing so, we will be forced to do it for her! Washington, D.C. must become CLEAN and SAFE! We want to be proud of our Great Capital again. Thank you Mayor Bowser for your efforts on behalf of the Citizens of our Country. Hopefully you will be successful! DONALD J. TRUMP, PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA”

He indicated that if Bowser does not take appropriate action, the federal government would intervene to rectify the situation.

Trump’s comments came after Bowser had previously described her relationship with the president as one that is unique due to D.C.’s status as the nation’s capital.

She noted that she had engaged in candid discussions with Trump about priorities for the city and the federal government.

In a previous proposal, Trump suggested relocating homeless encampments to less urban areas equipped with permanent facilities, arguing that the current conditions are unacceptable.

He envisioned creating large, functional tent areas to better accommodate those in need.

This approach aims to address the challenges posed by homelessness in major cities, reflecting his administration’s focus on urban cleanliness and safety.

The ongoing discourse around homelessness in D.C. highlights the complexities of addressing social issues while maintaining public order and safety.

Trump’s directive aims to push for immediate actions to improve the city’s appearance and living conditions for its residents and visitors.
