The almost two million Palestinians that President Trump intends to relocate from the Gaza Strip reportedly would not be permitted to return to the region under his hypothetical plan to reconstruct it, according to recent statements made by the President.

During an interview with Fox News that was slated to run on Monday, Mr. Trump provided further explanation regarding his recent proposal for a takeover of Gaza by the United States of America.

“No, they wouldn’t. Because they’re going to have much better housing — in other words, I’m talking about building a permanent place for them.” Trump said when asked whether Gazans would be allowed to return to their homes.

The proposal made by Mr. Trump that the United States should take control of Gaza and relocate its inhabitants has been met with considerable outrage from around the world, with some critics comparing it to attempts at ethnic cleansing.

According to the opinions of several experts, the act of forcibly transferring or deporting a civilian population constitutes a violation of international law as well as a war crime.

There have been prior instances in which Mr. Trump has proposed that the people of Gaza be moved to Jordan and Egypt, but both of these nations have promptly rejected this notion.

The idea, which Mr. Trump initially unveiled at a press conference held at the White House last week with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu of Israel, has been the subject of even greater misunderstanding as a result of Mr. Trump’s most recent comments.

It was on Wednesday, a day after the president had initially proposed the notion, that senior officials in the Trump administration made an attempt to retract the remarks made by the president.

They claimed that President Trump had not made a commitment to sending American soldiers to Gaza, and that any displacement of Palestinians would be a temporary measure.

But Mr. Trump brought up the notion once more on Sunday, as he was in the process of heading to New Orleans to attend the Super Bowl festivities.

It was recommended by Mr. Trump that two million Palestinians should be evacuated from Gaza to countries such as Egypt and Jordan, but both of these nations quickly rejected the notion. The plan would involve the relocation of two million Palestinians.
