Donald Trump is not afraid to put women in a powerful position. In a historic appointment, President-elect Donald Trump has named Susie Wiles as his White House chief of staff, marking her as the first woman to hold this high-ranking role. Wiles, a seasoned Republican strategist and the unofficial manager of Trump’s successful campaign, has been credited for leading a disciplined and well-executed operation that guided Trump to victory.
A driving force behind Trump’s campaigns in 2016 and 2020, Wiles has gained a reputation for her ability to manage Trump’s often unpredictable impulses, earning the president’s trust and respect. Throughout the campaign, she maintained a low profile, strategically avoiding the spotlight to shield herself from the volatility of Trump’s inner circle.
CNN writes:
“Susie Wiles just helped me achieve one of the greatest political victories in American history, and was an integral part of both my 2016 and 2020 successful campaigns,” the president-elect said in a statement.
“Susie is tough, smart, innovative, and is universally admired and respected. Susie will continue to work tirelessly to Make America Great Again. It is a well deserved honor to have Susie as the first-ever female Chief of Staff in United States history. I have no doubt that she will make our country proud,” Trump added.
CNN reported earlier Thursday that Wiles was considered the front-runner for the job but had some reservations about the role and had expressed to Trump certain conditions before she accepted, a source said. At the top of the list was more control over who can reach the president in the Oval Office.
“The clown car can’t come into the White House at will,” the source said. “And he agrees with her.”
The appointment is Trump’s first major personnel decision as he prepares to transition to the White House. With limited experience in federal government, Wiles brings a unique dynamic to the role, relying on her close relationship with Trump rather than extensive Washington connections.
Wiles’ history includes steering Florida Governor Ron DeSantis’ campaign in 2018 and assisting in various state and national campaigns. As she steps into her new role, political analysts are watching closely to see if Wiles’ rapport with Trump will help shape a more streamlined administration than his first.
