On Sunday, a prominent black Democrat in Congress acknowledged that he is “concerned” about the fact that black males are not voting for Vice President Kamala Harris and instead supporting former President Donald Trump in the 2024 election.

On CNN’s “State of the Union,” Rep. Jim Clyburn (D-SC), the highest-ranking black lawmaker in Congress before he resigned from leadership earlier this year, made the comment less than a month prior to Election Day.

“Yes, I am concerned about the black men staying home or voting for Trump,” Clyburn remarked.

Anchorage Dana Bash inquired whether Clyburn was apprehensive following CNN’s “discovery” that Harris’ campaign would implement new policies that focused on black males.

She then played a video of Trump at one of his campaign rallies, where he discussed the support he is receiving from the black community.

Bash also stated that Rep. Debbie Dingell (D-MI), who recently campaigned with Clyburn in Michigan, elucidated the reason why black males are becoming more favorable to Trump.

An NAACP poll conducted this summer revealed that one-fourth of black males were supporting Trump for president, suggesting that Democrats may be losing ground among this demographic.
