The National Rifle Association has now reportedly started a more than $2 million ad campaign Tuesday against Senator Jon Tester (D-MT), whose seat is one of the most closely fought heading into November.
The seven-figure ad buy will target Tester’s Second Amendment stance and include a TV spot that will air throughout Montana on satellite and cable networks.
The NRA stated that the ad was part of the gun rights organization’s efforts to influence competitive battlefield contests.
Tester, who has been in the Senate since 2007, will face a difficult battle from Republican Tim Sheehy.
The outcome could determine Senate control, as the Democrats now hold a tight two-seat advantage.
The advertisement shows a woman in rural Montana prepared to protect herself as criminals break into her home.

Tester, who has sought to distance himself from the Biden-Harris administration, has stated that he “strongly” supports the Second Amendment and opposes banning AR-15-style firearms.
In 2022, Tester supported the “Bipartisan Safer Communities Act,” the most comprehensive gun control legislation passed in decades and signed by President Joe Biden.
