Multiple news agencies reported on Monday that Ford Motor Company has now reportedly announced that it will donate one million dollars and a small fleet of vehicles to be used at the inauguration of President-elect Donald Trump.
In a recent wave of large technology businesses that have made substantial gifts to the inaugural fund of the new president, Ford has joined the ranks of those companies.
The flow of cash, in conjunction with meetings with Trump at his property in Florida, indicates a shift among firms that are attempting to court favor with the president as he prepares to take office.
Although inauguration donations from companies are not a new phenomenon, the torrent of cash is a combination of the two.
Within the past week, Meta and Amazon each contributed one million dollars to Trump’s inauguration fund.
This was followed by OpenAI CEO Sam Altman, who stated that he would contribute the same amount from his own personal wealth.
Altman, who has been a consistent donor to Democratic politicians since 2013, demonstrated a change in his approach with this move.
Despite the fact that Amazon has donated to the inaugural funds of the two administrations that came before this one, the amount of money it contributed this year was far higher than the $276,000 it contributed to President Biden’s 2021 inaugural committee.
According to the data related to campaign finance, the e-commerce behemoth contributed an even less amount to Trump’s first inauguration fund in 2017, which was approximately $57,000.
