On Tuesday’s episode of The Five, Dana Perino, a host for Fox News, reportedly made a speculative statement on the possibility that President-elect Donald Trump would encourage the United States to make a significant land “purchase” at some time during his second term.
During his speech on trade on Tuesday morning, President Trump referred to Canada as a “state” and Prime Minister Justin Trudeau as the “governor” of Canada.
“It was a pleasure to have dinner the other night with Governor Justin Trudeau of the Great State of Canada. I look forward to seeing the Governor again soon so that we may continue our in depth talks on Tariffs and Trade, the results of which will be truly spectacular for all!” Trump noted on his Truth Social account.
In a discussion that took place on Tuesday, the panel on The Five highlighted Trump’s apparent trolling of Trudeau, which occurred when Perino hypothesized that Trump would try to expand the country.
Following the reading of Trump’s social media post on Trudeau, co-host Joey Jones made the following comment: “Nobody trolls better than Donald J. Trump.”
“Dana, is this funny, like maybe it’s an inside joke from the dinner, or is he trolling him, and what’s the larger message?” Jones asked Perino.
“I think it’s funny and I imagine that Justin Trudeau also thought it was funny. And it probably will help their relationship. Because if you can tease somebody and they can be teased – and maybe Trudeau teases back a little bit. But we usually do predictions at the end of the year on a show and we’ll have that coming up and I usually am pretty good at them.” Perino said.
“But I’m going to make a prediction before that show, and I thought of this this afternoon. I actually think that the United States might make some sort of purchase. I don’t know, not Canada, but there might be some sort of like big real estate purchase in the next four years.” she added.
During the month of August 2019, President Trump created news across the world when he suggested purchasing Greenland from Denmark. This was a proposal that the representatives of Denmark did not appear to be aware of.
