Ann Selzer, a renowned pollster who is retiring, was criticized by President-elect Trump, who also called for an investigation into an Iowa survey she conducted that significantly impacted the race in the days leading up to the election.
“A totally Fake poll that caused great distrust and uncertainty at a very critical time. She knew exactly what she was doing. Thank you to the GREAT PEOPLE OF IOWA for giving me such a record breaking vote, despite possible ELECTION FRAUD by Ann Selzer and the now discredited “newspaper” for which she works. An investigation is fully called for!” Trump wrote on his Truth Social platform.
Selzer’s survey, which revealed that Vice President Harris was ahead of Trump in Iowa just days prior to the election, caused widespread consternation.
Trump ultimately prevailed in the state by a margin exceeding 20,000 ballots.
In a Sunday column, Selzer declared her intention to withdraw from the Iowa Poll of the Register.
Selzer, who has been employed by the Register on a contract basis since 1997, expressed her desire to have made the announcement after the polling results were in alignment with the election results.
