On Tuesday, President-elect Donald Trump has now reportedly disclosed that he has chosen John Ratcliffe, the former Director of National Intelligence, to serve as the director of the Central Intelligence Agency.
Ratcliffe disclosed information regarding the 2016 election shortly prior to the 2020 election, which indicated that Hillary Clinton’s campaign had authorized a scheme to “incite a scandal” against Trump by associating him with the Russians.
Ratcliffe was the U.S. Attorney for the Eastern District of Texas prior to his tenure in Congress.
He served as a congressman for five years prior to being appointed by President Trump as the Director of National Intelligence in 2020.
Ratcliffe was also considered as a prospective candidate for the position of attorney general under President Trump.
The president has appointed individuals to various positions within the new Trump administration this week.
These appointments include former Rep. Lee Zeldin (R-NY) as the head of the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), Rep. Elise Stefanik (R-NY) as the U.S. ambassador to the United Nations, and former Arkansas Republican Gov. Mike Huckabee as the U.S. ambassador to Israel.
