The former president was prompted to elucidate on his sincerity after the audience at a town hall with Donald Trump in Pennsylvania on Sunday reportedly engaged in a round of booing when he mentioned that his Democratic opponent Vice President Kamala Harris is celebrating her 60th birthday.
At a campaign town hall event in Lancaster, PA on Sunday afternoon, Trump engaged with audience members. Lancaster, PA is a critical state for both candidates and is considered one of the top battlegrounds.
The initial inquiry for Trump was from a man named Bob, who identified himself as a retired union worker from Hazelton, Pennsylvania.
Bob inquired about Social Security, informing Trump that he is on a fixed income and inquiring as to whether Trump would safeguard benefits.
Trump stated that he would, and subsequently referenced her birthday while discussing President Joe Biden and Vice President Harris.
“A great question. The answer is yes. And you know, when you say fixed income because of Biden and Kamala — Nobody knows her as Harris. You know, I can’t use the word Harris. And by the way, it’s her 60th birthday, so I want to wish her a happy 60th birthday. Right? No? No, happy birthday and many more. And I mean it. So you know I do mean it, actually.” Trump said as a as the crowd responded with a chorus of boos.
