This week, filmmaker Michael Moore issued a warning to Vice President Kamala Harris that she may lose Michigan and, as a result, the presidential campaign.
Moore made a plea to Harris in a Wednesday Substack post to fully embrace an immediate ceasefire in the Israel-Hamas conflict and demand the return of hostages held by Hamas in Gaza, as well as an end to the United States military aid to Israel.
Moore contended that Harris is perceived as lacking in action on the issue and without any real plan.
Moore observed that the ongoing conflict has resulted in a decline in President Joe Biden’s support among Arab Americans since the 2020 election.
“Vice President Harris: Your perceived silence and lack of action, your lack of a plan, your continued repetition of the party line — ‘We are close to a ceasefire!’ — as if it’s just around the corner when we all know (because we all know Bibi) that that is not going to happen — rings hollow, and it has cost you an active base of support in Michigan,” Moore said.
Moore was previously involved in the organization of a protest movement in Michigan that resulted in over 100,000 ballots being cast as “uncommitted” in the state Democratic Party primary during Biden’s reelection campaign.
“The bad news is that it seems the vast majority of Arab voters in Michigan are either going to stay home or they will show up to vote but leave the ‘president’ line blank. Some will vote 3rd party. As Michelle Goldberg wrote in The New York Times, ‘Lose Michigan, Lose the White House,’” Moore continued.
