New polling conducted in Georgia indicates that the campaign between Vice President Harris and former President Trump is relatively close with only 48 days remaining until Election Day, however Trump has a noticeable lead over Vice-President Harris.

The Atlanta Journal-Constitution released a survey on Wednesday morning that indicates Trump is leading Harris in the state by 47 percent to 44 percent among likely voters.

Independent presidential candidate Cornel West and other third-party contenders received less than 1 percent support, while approximately 7 percent of Peach State voters declared themselves undecided.

According to the survey, the former president has maintained a robust support from the Republican base of the state, with over 90% of Georgia Republicans and approximately 65.4 percent of white voters in the state endorsing his third bid for the presidency.

The poll revealed that the vice president has made strides among independents, with 50.4 percent of respondents supporting her candidacy, as opposed to 34.1 percent who supported Trump.

Additionally, she garnered approximately 77% of the support of Black voters in the state, which is a lower percentage than the party’s requirement in the state that President Biden won by a razor-thin margin, or fewer than 12,000 ballots, in 2020.

The survey indicates that approximately 12 percent of Black voters were undecided.

The Democratic nominee was regarded favorably by approximately 48% of the respondents. According to the survey, the same proportion expressed an unfavorable perspective.

On the Republican side, approximately 51% of the state’s voters held a negative opinion of Trump, which was slightly higher than the 46% who viewed him favorably.

The margin of error of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution poll, which was conducted by the University of Georgia’s School of Public and International Affairs between Sept. 9-15 among 1,000 likely voters, is 3.1 percentage points.
