Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump told X owner Elon Musk on Monday night that surviving an assassination attempt last month strengthened his faith and belief in God.

Trump made the statements during an X Space broadcast, which millions of people saw as he pondered on the Butler, Pennsylvania, shooting one month ago.

Trump stated that he realized he had been wounded by a gunshot in the ear as soon as he was hit, which is one of the reasons he collapsed so rapidly.

He stated that the fact that he turned his head at the exact moment the would-be assassin fired the gun should cause those who do not believe in God to reexamine their beliefs.

“I’m a believer. Now, I’m more of a believer.” Trump said.

Several minutes later, Trump claimed that turning his head to study a chart on display at his rally was “an act of God” and “a miracle” that had saved his life.

“For those people that don’t believe in God, I think we all have to start thinking about that.” Trump concluded.
