On Thursday, the former president made a commitment to outlaw male participation in women’s sports. He informed radio hosts Clay Travis and Buck Sexton that he intended to revoke President Joe Biden’s Title IX amendment “on day one.”
“President Trump just pledged to all of us on @clayandbuck that men will not be allowed to compete against women in sports when he is elected president. He promises to take care of it on day one and end Kamala and Biden’s new Title IX policies allowing this to happen.”Travis announced on the X platform.
Trump’s pledge follows controversy surrounding the Olympics, where Italian boxer Angela Carini withdrew from her match against Algerian boxer Imane Khelif, who was disqualified from the 2023 world championships in New Delhi after the International Boxing Association found that Khelif had elevated testosterone levels and “XY chromosomes” in less than a minute.
The official 2024 GOP platform, which was unveiled earlier in the summer, mentions its opposition to recent initiatives to permit trans-identifying males to participate in women’s athletics.
These initiatives are backed by President Joe Biden, Vice President Kamala Harris, and the majority of elected Democrats.
