Vice President Kamala Harris tried to mock former President Donald Trump Tuesday for not yet agreeing to debate her ahead of the presidential election in November.
“So, last week, you may have seen, he pulled out of the debate in September he had previously agreed to. So, here’s the thing, here’s the funny thing about that. Here’s the funny thing about that. So he won’t debate, but he and his running mate sure seem to have a lot to say about me, and by the way, don’t you find some of their stuff to just be plain weird?” Harris said.
“Well, Donald, I do hope you’ll reconsider to meet me on the debate stage because as the saying goes, if you got something to say, say it to my face!” she continued.
Although Trump had already committed to face President Joe Biden again in September, those preparations were shelved when Biden declared this month that he would be stepping down from the 2024 presidential contest due to growing worries about his obvious and significant cognitive deterioration.
Trump responded by saying he would only take on Harris in a debate if it was certain that she would be the Democratic nominee for president in 2024.
Even though Trump’s debate was only ever supposed to be with Biden, Harris has tried to attack Trump for “backpedaling” out of it.
The Democratic National Convention has not yet taken place, and Harris has not yet been certified as the Democratic contender.
