According to a new poll, former President Trump is leading President Biden in Virginia, a state that Biden won handily in 2020, by three points.
As per a press release provided with The Hill, the Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU) — Wilder School poll indicated that 39 percent of respondents supported Trump, while 36 percent supported Biden.
Since the poll’s December release, Biden’s support has decreased by six percentage points, while Trump’s support has stayed constant.
Although more respondents are leaning toward Trump in the state, the survey notes that the difference in support between Biden and Trump is within its margin of error.
Two percent of Virginians indicated they would vote for Jill Stein, one percent for Cornel West, and nine percent said they would support independent candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr.
Republicans stated they would support Trump, while 75% of Democrats indicated they would vote for Biden in the poll. From both parties, 6% of respondents said they would back Kennedy.
Additionally, the poll revealed that 27% of independent voters planned to support Kennedy.
Additionally, the poll revealed a decline in Biden’s favor among Black state citizens since December.
Black Virginians who said they would vote for Biden totaled forty-six percent, down twenty-one points from the sixty-seven percent who said the same in the previous poll.
A survey of 809 Virginian adults was performed between June 24 and July 3. The error range for it is plus or minus 4.8 percentage points.
