On Thursday, former President Donald Trump stated to Dr. Phil McGraw that “revenge can be justified” in response to the television host’s assertion that Trump would not have the opportunity to avenge his adversaries during a second term in the White House.
“I think you have so much to do, you don’t have time to get even. You only have time to get right,” McGraw noted during a recent interview with Trump on Dr. Phil Primetime.
“Well revenge does take time, I will say that,” Trump said in reply.
“And sometimes revenge can be justified, Phil. I have to be honest. Sometimes it can.” he continued.
“But is the country better or worse for going after you?” McGraw asked as a follow up.
“I think the country is really worse for what they’ve done and I think you see that when you look at the poll numbers. When you see that almost $400 million has poured in since this horrible decision [in the New York hush money trial] was made, that was a few days ago. Numbers that nobody’s ever heard of in politics before. It’s a great honor.” Trump responded.
In addition to his statement during the Dr. Phil interview, this week, following his conviction on 34 felony counts of falsifying business documents, the former president implied on Fox News’ Hannity that he could exact revenge on President Joe Biden if he secures a second term in November.
Trump informed Fox News anchor Bret Baier in January that he would not have the opportunity to retaliate, despite this.
