During a recent exchange, Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) criticized Speaker Mike Johnson (R-La.) for what she perceived as a deviation from the core principles of the GOP, particularly regarding Ukraine and various other matters.

“Mike Johnson has made a complete departure of who he is and what he stands for. And to the point where people are literally asking — is he being blackmailed? What is wrong with him? Because he’s completely disconnected with what we want,” Greene said during a recent interview with former Fox Host Tucker Carlson.

During the interview, Carlson inquired about Greene’s thoughts on whether Johnson could be facing any form of coercion.

“I have no idea. I can’t comprehend, Tucker.” Greene replied.

Johnson has consistently expressed his intention to provide assistance to Ukraine, as the country continues to confront the ongoing Russian invasion.

However, the internal politics within his conference pose a significant challenge to this endeavor.

In a recent move, Greene put forth a motion to remove Johnson from the Speakership, which was interpreted by many as a clear message to Johnson regarding the Ukraine aid issue.

During her remarks, Greene highlighted additional policy areas where she claims the Louisiana Republican should redirect his attention, such as border security, anti-abortion, and anti-trans legislation.

Johnson recently stated that he anticipates advancing a comprehensive package, which includes assistance for Ukraine, upon the House’s return from recess next week. Political disagreements have hindered the delivery of much-needed assistance to the war-torn nation for over a year.

Greene stated that she and fellow Republicans had been left in the dark over the legislation.

“Not one Republican member of our conference I have spoken to has any idea what is in this foreign aid package that’s going to give $60 billion to Ukraine, and that is even the leadership offices. They haven’t heard from Mike Johnson on the details,” she stated.
