Former President Trump has once again called for Liz Cheney to face prosecution for destroying evidence during the congressional investigation of the event of January 6, 2021.

Fox News reported that “House Republicans released a report claiming the Jan. 6 select committee “deleted” records and hired “Hollywood producers” to promote a political narrative while investigating the circumstances surrounding supporters of former President Donald Trump breaching the Capitol in 2021.

‘For nearly two years, former Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s January 6th Select Committee promoted hearsay and cherry-picked information to promote its political goal – to legislatively prosecute former President Donald Trump,’ Rep. Barry Loudermilk, R-Ga., chairman of the Committee on House Administration’s Subcommittee on Oversight, said in a statement accompanied by his “Initial Findings Report” on Monday.

‘It was no surprise that the Select Committee’s final report focused primarily on former President Trump and his supporters, not the security failures and reforms needed to ensure the United States Capitol is safer today than in 2021.'”

Now the GOP frontrunner is claiming that Cheney needs to be investigated for her role in the entire affair.

Trump, on Truth Social on Sunday, posted an article former Trump administration aide Kash Patel published in The Federalist last week in which Patel claimed Cheney and the House Jan. 6 committee “suppressed evidence” about the former president’s authorization of National Guard troops during the Jan. 6, 2021, Capitol insurrection, according to The Hill.

“SHE SHOULD BE PROSECUTED FOR WHAT SHE HAS DONE TO OUR COUNTRY! SHE ILLEGALLY DESTROYED THE EVIDENCE. UNREAL!!!” Trump wrote on Truth Social alongside a link to Patel’s piece.

Cheney shot back Sunday at Trump’s calls for her to be jailed, posting on X the platform formerly known as Twitter: “Hi Donald: you know these are lies. You have had all the grand jury & J6 transcripts for many months. You’re trying to halt your 1/6 trial because your VP, WH counsel, WH aides, campaign & DOJ officials etc. will testify against you. You’re afraid of the truth and you should be.”

Cheney served as vice chair of the House Jan. 6 committee and emerged as one of the most outspoken GOP critics of the former president. She has repeatedly pinned the blame on Trump for allegedly inciting the riot.

The daughter of former vice president Dick Cheney, Liz served as a representative from Wyoming for six years. She hit back against the former president, saying “afraid of the truth.”

“Cheney said Trump and his attorneys have long had all the evidence compiled by the former committee, and they are only trying to delay criminal trials related to the insurrection attempt. While Trump has not been charged with inciting the Capitol riot, he does face sweeping federal charges accusing him of trying to steal the 2020 election from President Joe Biden,” according to USA Today.

After the mobbing of the Capitol on January 6, 2021, Cheney became one of ten House Republicans who supported impeaching Trump on allegations he sparked the violence and attempted to overthrow the Electoral College.
