On Monday, during his Iowa caucus victory address, former President Trump offered a jest towards former President Carter, while attempting to slam President Biden.
“My wife attended the funeral two months ago of Rosalynn Carter. And it was beautiful. Jimmy Carter was there. I thought to myself, Jimmy Carter is happy now, because he will go down as a brilliant president by comparison to Joe Biden.” Trump remarked.
Trump has previously expressed this view, initially teasing President Biden with Carter’s name in November and then making reference to Rosalynn Carter on Sunday.
In November, Carter, who was 99 years old and receiving palliative care, lost his wife Rosalynn. Former President Clinton and every surviving former first lady were in attendance at her funeral.
