In a shocking display, pro-Palestinian activists defaced a United States cemetery honoring fallen soldiers in California.

The group later came back and added to the damage, calling for the genocide of Israel.

The Los Angeles National Cemetary serves as the eternal resting place for nearly 85,000 soldiers who served in World War I, World War II, Korea, and Vietnam.

The National Review reports

Protesters spray-painted “Free Gaza” on the entrance to the memorial and chanted “long live Palestine,” “there is only one solution,” “from the river from the sea, Palestine will be free,” and “Biden, Biden, you’re a liar,” according to video footage of the event. Hundreds of protesters held signs that read “ceasefire now,” “stop bombing Gaza,” “end the occupation now,” “stop the genocide,” and more. One sign read “Zionist = Nazi.”

The protest also shut down Wilshire Boulevard, which is between Interstate 405 and Glendon Avenue, on Sunday afternoon.

“More proof that the people who hate #Israel, also hate America,” California congressman Brad Sherman said on X. “Here, at the Los Angeles National Cemetery in my district, they deface a cemetery for those who gave their lives to end slavery and protect the world from fascism.”

Beneath the spray-painted “Free Gaza” statement on the cemetery’s entrance is a quote from Abraham Lincoln’s second inaugural address — “To care for him who shall have borne the battle and for his widow and orphan” — which is also the U.S. Department of Veteran Affairs’s motto. The statement affirms “the government’s obligation to care for those injured during the war and to provide for the families of those who perished on the battlefield,” the department says on its website.

LA was not the only place where pro-Palestine protestors disrupted and attacked people completely uninvolved with American foreign policy. Anti-Israel protestors also struck New York City again, shutting down a major roadway.

The New York Times reported that “Pro-Palestinian demonstrators on Monday blocked off entrances to the Holland Tunnel and the Brooklyn, Manhattan and Williamsburg Bridges, disrupting rush-hour traffic in Manhattan as they protested Israel’s bombardment of the Gaza Strip and called for a cease-fire.

Protesters gathered at the Holland Tunnel around 9:30 a.m. and held aloft a Palestinian flag and banners that read “Lift the siege on Gaza” and “End the occupation.” Nearby, a group of demonstrators in fluorescent vests and masks linked arms and redirected cars away from the outbound ramp.”

The newspaper said that protests against Israel “have become an almost daily feature of life in New York City since Hamas attacked Israel on Oct. 7, killing roughly 1,200 people.”
