All of the former and current first ladies joined together to honor one of their own on Tuesday. Current First Lady Jill Biden joined Melania Trump, Michelle Obama, Hillary Clinton, and Laura Bush joined together to honor one of their own on Tuesday at the tribute service for former First Lady Rosalynn Carter held in Atlanta at Emory University.

Tradition calls for sitting and former first ladies to attend the funerals of former first ladies.

CNN reports

During the service Melania Trump sat at the end of the aisle in the front row next to Michelle Obama, who had Laura Bush placed on her other side.

Former President Jimmy Carter, President Joe Biden, Vice President Kamala Harris, second gentleman Doug Emhoff and former President Bill Clinton were also in attendance at Carter’s memorial service.

Three former presidents did not attend: Donald Trump, Barack Obama and George W. Bush.

Melania Trump has largely avoided the public eye since leaving Washington in January 2021, even as her husband pursues another campaign to return to the White House. A source close to the former first lady told CNN most of her focus remains on their son, Barron, who is expected to graduate high school in Florida next year.

Earlier in the month, the Carter Center revealed that the ex-first lady had begun hospice care after being diagnosed with dementia in May. In February, her husband, President Jimmy Carter, 99, has also been placed in home hospice care, prompted several hospitalizations.

Rosalynn Carter was 96.
