In the major battleground states in the 2020 election, former President Donald Trump reportedly seems to have a lead over President Joe Biden in 2024, according to a poll released on Friday.
Arizona, Georgia, Michigan, Nevada, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin were the states with the closest margins of victory for either candidate during the previous election cycle; Biden won all but North Carolina.
According to a new Reuters/Ipsos poll, Trump leads Biden 41% to 35% in those crucial swing states, and 24% of voters are still uncertain.
According to the poll, the former president also had a tiny advantage over Biden among independent voters.
Independents supported Trump 32% to Biden’s 30%, with 38% still uncertain.
Undecided voters preferred Biden to Trump by a 49% to 38% margin.
According to the poll, in a hypothetical head-to-head contest in 2024, Biden and Trump are tied at 39%.
Many voters expressed anxiety about the economy, crime, and the president’s advanced age.
According to the study, only 39% of respondents thought Biden had enough mental acuity for the position, and 77% of voters—including 65% of Democrats—said he was too old for another term.
73% of respondents stated the economy remains the same as it was before the Covid-19 pandemic, and over 90% said crime would play a significant role in how they decided who to vote for.
With a margin of error of plus or minus 2%, the Reuters/Ipsos poll polled 4,413 persons countrywide between September 8 and September 14.
