A recent survey shows that in a hypothetical head-to-head fight between the two candidates for president in 2024, former President Donald Trump has a significant advantage over the current president, Joe Biden.

According to the results of a poll conducted by Premise, a hypothetical matchup between Trump and Biden for the presidency in 2024 finds Trump ahead of Biden by a margin of 47% to 41%.

In comparison to a Similar survey from February, which showed Trump trailing Biden 42% to 44%, this one from April shows a movement of 8 percentage points in the direction of the former president.

The majority of Republicans and Democrats voted for their party’s nominee, with Trump receiving 87 percent of the vote from Republicans and Biden receiving 75 percent of the vote from Democrats. 39% of Independents voted for Trump, while just 22% of Independents supported Biden.

Biden received support from the majority of black voters (61%), while Trump received support from almost half of the Hispanic and Latino votes (49%).

The same poll suggests that Florida Governor Ron DeSantis, who has not officially entered the race for president but is widely expected to do so, would also win if pitted against the president in a hypothetical matchup, albeit by a margin of victory that is only one percentage point larger than the president’s.

According to the survey, Trump is the undisputed front-runner in the large field of Republican primary candidates, topping DeSantis by 56% to 25%.

Following closely behind the two front-runners with 5% support each is former South Carolina Governor Nikki Haley and current Texas Senator Ted Cruz.

Mike Pence, who had previously held the position of Vice-President, earned only 4% of the vote.

A total of 1,509 registered voters participated in the poll conducted by Premise between March 16 and March 21.
