According to a White House official, President Biden reportedly removed Architect of the Capitol Brett Blanton on Monday.
The indignation began over an inspector general investigation that indicated Blanton misused a government vehicle and reportedly impersonated a law enforcement officer.
The president’s action came only hours after House Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) demanded Blanton resign or be removed by Biden.
House Administration Committee Chairman Bryan Steil (R-Wis.) and ranking member Joseph Morelle (D-N.Y.) have also asked for the resignation of the Architect of the Capitol.
Who is in charge of building upkeep, preservation, and development at the Capitol complex.
The White House was questioned about the inspector general’s findings earlier this month.
Only the president has the ability to terminate the Capitol Architect.
Blanton was appointed Architect of the Capitol by former President Trump and approved by the Senate in December 2019.
According to an inspector general report issued in October, Blanton and his family utilized Architect of the Capitol cars designed for home-to-work usage as personal vehicles.
The incident resulting in over $14,000 in unnecessary expenses.
Furthermore, Blanton was mistakenly recognized as an off-duty police officer during an incident in which he pursued down a hit-and-run that occurred outside his home.
He had denied portraying himself as police enforcement, claiming that it was a mistake by Fairfax County Police.
