According to a new report, former President Donald Trump is planning a Twitter comeback, including the termination of an exclusive deal he has with his own site, Truth Social.
According to two people familiar with the situation, Trump recently told people close to him that he does not want to extend the partnership with Truth Social’s parent firm, TMTG.
According to SEC filings, Trump is now required to wait six hours after publishing on Truth Social before sharing the identical information on any other social media network, a contract that is set to expire in June.
Trump was removed off Twitter immediately after the January 6, 2021 Capitol riot.
Trump has not tweeted since being restored on the site in mid-November, following Elon Musk’s purchase of the firm, which signaled a shift in moderation policies.
The prospective return to Twitter comes ahead of the 2024 presidential election cycle, which is set to heat up this summer with the Republican National Convention.
Trump has slightly under 5 million followers on Truth Social, but almost 88 million followers on Twitter.
Devin Nunes, the CEO of Truth Social, claimed however that Trump allegedly has “no interest in going back to Twitter.”
It remains to be seen just what Trump will decide to do come June when his contract with Truth Social is up for renewal, however many political observers have claimed that the former President rejoining Twitter will be a prerequisite for any potential successful presidential run in 2024.
