According to a new report Infowars presenter Alex Jones filed for personal bankruptcy on Friday.
The move comes soon after a Connecticut jury and judge ordered him to pay $1.44 billion in damages to relatives of the Sandy Hook Elementary school shooting tragedy victims.
The conspiracy theorist filed the Chapter 11 filings with the Southern District of Texas months after Infowars’ parent business, Free Speech Systems, went bankrupt during the summer.
For years, Jones claimed that the 2012 tragedy, in which the shooter killed 26 people, including 20 children, was a false flag operation designed to assist the government in seizing Americans’ weapons.
The parents of children massacred on December 14, 2012, at the Newtown, Connecticut, elementary school, who had successfully sued him for slander, as well as an FBI agent who attended to the site of the slaughter, are among the creditors named by name in Jones’ bankruptcy filing.
Jones’ firm, Free Speech Systems Inc., had previously declared bankruptcy in July.
Last month, Jones was ordered to pay an additional $473 million on top of the $965 million he had previously been ordered to pay.
Jones has assets worth between $1 million and $10 million but liabilities between between $1 billion and $10 billion.
The bankruptcy lessens Jones’s ability to make payments to the Sandy Hook family, whom he accused of acting as crisis actors for the federal government., thought lawyers for those effected by Jones’ claims vowed that the bankruptcy filing would not stop their attempts to collect from the controversial media personality.
The day before the filing, Jones did an interview with Ye, the artist formerly known as Kanye West.
During the three-hour performance, Ye made a number of explicitly anti-Semitic remarks while simultaneously praising Nazi leader Adolf Hitler and ‘Nazis’ in general. Ye also recalled a dinner he had with previous President Donald Trump.
