The White House on Monday reportedly released President Donald Trump’s MRI results, fulfilling a pledge the president made the night before while speaking to reporters aboard Air Force One. Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt delivered the update during the daily briefing, offering a detailed medical summary meant to underscore Trump’s physical fitness and transparency.
Leavitt was asked directly whether the results would be made public “right now.” She replied, “It is happening right now,” before reading a statement from the president’s physician.
According to Leavitt, Trump underwent advanced imaging as part of what she described as a “comprehensive executive physical,” noting that men in Trump’s age group benefit from a more thorough examination of cardiovascular and abdominal health. The imaging, she said, was preventive — meant to detect early problems, confirm overall health, and ensure Trump maintains “long-term vitality and function.”
Leavitt reported that the president’s cardiovascular MRI was “perfectly normal,” showing no arterial narrowing, no signs of inflammation or clotting, and no abnormalities in the heart or major blood vessels. “The heart chambers are normal in size. The vessel walls appear smooth and healthy,” she said.
His abdominal imaging was described with equal confidence. “All major organs appear very healthy and well perfused,” the summary noted, with everything functioning “within normal limits with no acute or chronic concerns.”
The press secretary emphasized that this level of detailed imaging is “standard for an executive physical at President Trump’s age” and reconfirmed that he “remains in excellent overall health.”
Trump had previewed the release the night before, telling reporters his MRI was “perfect — like my phone call where I got impeached. Absolutely perfect.” When a reporter asked why he needed an MRI, Trump shot back that it was routine and not related to cognitive concerns, noting that he had already taken — and “aced” — a cognitive test. “I got a perfect mark, which you would be incapable of doing,” he told the reporter.
The MRI revelation came after Trump casually mentioned last month that he had undergone the scan, surprising some observers because the White House had already referred to a previous medical exam earlier in the year as his “annual checkup.” Leavitt has maintained that the imaging is a normal part of Trump’s routine evaluations.
In Monday’s briefing, she said the administration wanted to honor Trump’s promise of transparency by releasing more medical detail than usual for a sitting president.
“The president promised it last night and we have delivered today,” Leavitt said, holding up the summary for the press corps. “There you go.”
The release is likely intended to quiet ongoing speculation from critics who have questioned Trump’s health — a topic the president has often turned into a political weapon of his own, routinely boasting of his stamina and mental sharpness.
The White House now says the results speak for themselves: Trump’s MRI, like his physical exam, shows a president in what they describe as “excellent” shape.
