Vanderbilt QB Makes Plea To Trump

The SEC Conference is getting pretty desperate to remain on as a leader in college football, but one team trying to make the playoffs is now asking the most powerful man in the world to intervene. Vanderbilt quarterback Diego Pavia, one of the season’s leading Heisman contenders is urging President Donald Trump to intervene in the College Football Playoff debate about who should or shouldn’t be in.

Posting on Twitter, Pavia tagged the president directly and wrote, “@realDonaldTrump MAKE THE EXECUTIVE ORDER PLEASE.”

His message was a response to a viral proposal calling for the immediate expansion of the playoff field from 12 to 16 teams. That suggested bracket — four SEC teams, four Big Ten teams, two ACC teams, two Big 12 teams, and four at-large selections — was paired with a jab at the selection process itself: “Get rid of these stupid committees filled with justifications nobody seems to understand.”

For Vanderbilt, the timing is tender. The Commodores closed the regular season with just two losses, to Alabama and Texas, and have no remaining opportunities to strengthen their résumé, which likely puts them on the outside looking in.

The latest rankings only sharpen the grievances. Miami sits just outside the playoff despite a head-to-head win over Notre Dame, while the possibility of a three-loss Alabama sneaking in — especially if the Tide fall to Georgia on Saturday — has become a flashpoint for critics who argue that the system routinely bends toward college football’s traditional powers.

With high-stakes title games across the Big 12, ACC, and other leagues still capable of detonating the current bracket, the run-up to Sunday’s reveal has turned chaotic.
