President Donald Trump abruptly severed ties with one of his most outspoken allies on Friday, ending his endorsement of Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene in a blistering public break that has rattled Republican ranks already strained by a shutdown fight and the renewed volatility of the Jeffrey Epstein files.
Trump’s announcement, delivered in a pointed social media post, marked a dramatic rupture with a lawmaker who has championed him since her arrival in Congress. With Greene already gearing up for her 2026 reelection bid, Trump accused her of losing her political bearings and signaled he’s ready to back someone else in her deep-red Georgia district.

The fallout comes as House Republicans wrestle with competing demands: foreign policy crises abroad, rising costs at home, and an accelerating push by a small band of conservatives — including Greene — to force the release of long-sealed federal records tied to Epstein, writes CNN.
So far, the documents that were released have shown that Democrats were working with Epstein to undermine Trump’s first term.
Trump framed his reversal as a necessary correction. “I am withdrawing my support and Endorsement of ‘Congresswoman’ Marjorie Taylor Greene,” he wrote, branding her as having “gone Far Left.” He added, “She has told many people that she is upset that I don’t return her phone calls anymore, but with 219 Congressmen/women, 53 U.S. Senators, 24 Cabinet Members, almost 200 Countries, and an otherwise normal life to lead, I can’t take a ranting Lunatic’s call every day.”
Greene fired back immediately, casting Trump’s move as a warning shot aimed at silencing Republican support for releasing the Epstein files. “Of course he’s coming after me hard to make an example to scare all the other Republicans before next weeks vote to release the Epstein files,” she wrote. Greene is part of a small bloc pressing a discharge petition to force a vote unsealing Justice Department materials from the Epstein investigation. Trump has dismissed the effort as a “hoax” meant to dredge up his own past associations.
By Saturday, Greene said the rhetoric against her had escalated into something more dangerous. “I am now being contacted by private security firms with warnings for my safety as a hot bed of threats against me are being fueled and egged on by the most powerful man in the world. The man I supported and helped get elected,” she said.
She also weirdly compared herself to the victims of Jeffrey Epstein.

For Greene, the split marks a precarious shift — from perhaps Trump’s most enthusiastic defender to a symbol of the costs of crossing him.
