During a recent address at the White House, President Donald Trump reportedly launched a scathing critique of major media outlets, specifically targeting CNN and MSNBC, which he referred to as “enemies of the people.”
Trump made these comments while discussing various topics, including the announcement of a new F-47 jet by the Air Force alongside Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth.
The tirade was prompted by a recent New York Times report claiming that Elon Musk was set to be briefed by Pentagon officials regarding potential war plans with China.
Trump countered the report by asserting that Musk had only met with Pentagon officials to discuss his work with DOGE, emphasizing that there were no conversations about military strategies.
He reaffirmed his stance on the media, referring to the Times as a “failing” newspaper and denouncing it for spreading what he considered dishonest stories.
Trump expressed his frustration over the media landscape, stating, “If you read what is out of The New York Times, it’s such a dishonest newspaper. They have fake sources or they don’t have sources.” He claimed much of their reporting is fabricated, suggesting the Times should improve its journalistic integrity.
As for CNN and MSNBC, Trump predicted that their poor ratings would lead to their eventual downfall, saying, “I think they’re going to be turned off,” while calling for more honest journalism.
He lamented the current state of media integrity, asserting, “We do need honest journalism.” Trump reiterated his belief that both networks were struggling in terms of audience engagement, highlighting a perceived crisis in trustworthy reporting within mainstream media.
