At the recent Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC), Tom Homan, serving as President Trump’s Border Czar, delivered a forceful address highlighting the administration’s intensified efforts against illegal immigration.

Homan emphasized the significant progress made in securing the nation’s borders and outlined forthcoming measures targeting sanctuary cities.

Homan reported a substantial decrease in illegal border crossings, attributing this success to the administration’s stringent policies.

He detailed that, in less than a month, illegal entries had plummeted by 95%, while Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) had executed over 21,000 arrests.

A focal point of Homan’s speech was the administration’s stance on sanctuary cities—jurisdictions that limit cooperation with federal immigration authorities.

He criticized these areas for providing refuge to individuals residing in the country unlawfully and announced plans for an extensive interior enforcement campaign.

This initiative aims to enhance collaboration between federal and local agencies to address and reduce illegal immigration effectively.

Homan also revealed the administration’s intention to designate Mexican drug cartels as terrorist organizations.

This classification would enable the government to employ more robust legal tools against those collaborating with such groups, treating them as affiliates of terrorist entities.

In his address, Homan underscored the necessity for cohesive efforts between federal and local law enforcement agencies.

He expressed concern over officials who decline to transfer individuals suspected of criminal activities to ICE, suggesting that such actions may inadvertently shield violent offenders.

Specific cities, including Boston, were mentioned as areas where local policies have led to the release of individuals back into communities rather than into federal custody for deportation proceedings.

“I’m coming to Boston. I’m bringing hell with me.” he declared in reference to the notorious far-left sanctuary city.

Homan indicated plans to focus enforcement efforts in these regions to apprehend those who have evaded federal action.

To bolster these initiatives, Homan proposed leveraging resources from multiple federal agencies.

Collaborative efforts with entities such as the United States Marshals Service and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives are intended to support ICE operations, particularly in addressing serious offenses like firearms violations and narcotics trafficking.

Concluding his remarks, Homan emphasized the moral and national security imperatives of enforcing immigration laws.

He reaffirmed the administration’s commitment to persist in these efforts until all individuals residing in the country illegally, including gang members, are located and removed.
