ESPN host Stephen A. Smith has now reportedly expressed that he may have “no choice” but to consider a presidential run in the future.

During an interview on ABC’s “This Week,” Smith revealed that he has received encouragement from influential figures, including elected officials and even billionaires, to explore the possibility of entering politics.

Although he signed a contract extension with ESPN and enjoys his current role, Smith feels a responsibility to keep the door open for potential political opportunities over the next few years.

Smith criticized the current state of the Democratic Party, calling it “lost,” and has acknowledged that there are more qualified candidates within the party, such as Maryland Governor Wes Moore and Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro.

Despite this, he stated, “I would hope somebody else would step up that’s more qualified than me,” yet remains open to the idea of running if necessary.

He voiced concerns regarding the current political landscape, suggesting he would not shy away from confronting politicians from both the left and right, whom he finds unappealing.

Additionally, Smith responded to Steve Bannon’s comments about potential celebrities being threats to Trump in a possible 2028 election.

He warned that any attempt to circumvent the Constitution’s 22nd Amendment regarding presidential term limits would set a troubling precedent.

In essence, while Smith is currently focused on his media career, he feels compelled to consider a future in politics due to the support and encouragement he’s received from various individuals.

This statement has sparked discussions about his possible entry into the political arena, aligning with America’s growing fascination with celebrity candidates.
